The Blackwing is a small, tube-launched unmanned aircraft system designed to deliver rapid-response intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) across multiple domains including undersea, surface, and ground. Its compact airframe can be launched from an underwater submarine canister, surface ship, ground vehicle, or multipack launcher, enabling flexible deployment options depending on mission needs.
Blackwing incorporates a miniature electro-optical and infrared sensor suite and a secure digital data link that streams real-time video and supports tactical command-and-control relay between undersea and surface assets. Lightweight and quiet, it’s difficult to detect or track, making it well suited for discreet reconnaissance, feature/object recognition, and cross-domain situational awareness.
Multi-Domain Launch Flexibility
Blackwing can be deployed from submarines via underwater-to-air canisters, surface vessels, ground vehicles, or multipack launchers compatible with existing tactical missile systems. This flexibility lets forces project ISR capability from sea to shore without dependency on traditional airfields.
Miniature EO/IR Sensor Suite
Equipped with an integrated electro-optical and infrared sensor package, Blackwing streams real-time imagery back to operators for rapid reconnaissance and feature recognition in both day and night conditions. The sensor suite supports situational awareness and enhances decision-making at the tactical edge.
Secure Digital Data Link
A built-in secure DDL enables real-time command-and-control and serves as a tactical communication relay between undersea, surface, and other unmanned systems. This cross-domain connectivity expands operational awareness and coordination for distributed forces.
Low-Observable Profile
The small size, quiet electric propulsion, and low thermal/visual signature make Blackwing difficult to detect or track even at close range, allowing discreet intelligence gathering in contested or sensitive environments.
