AV’s Wasp micro air vehicle is the smallest production UAS supporting programs of record for the United States Department of Defense. Selected by the U.S. Air Force for its BATMAV program in 2006, Wasp weighs a mere one pound, yet delivers 45 minutes of flight time from its rechargeable battery pack while transmitting live, streaming color and thermal video to AV’s common, hand-held controller.

U.S. Marines use Wasp to deliver real time situational awareness, or a bird’s eye view of the battlefield. Wasp possesses many of the guidance and communications technologies incorporated into larger manned and unmanned aircraft, but with a wingspan of about 30 inches it represents the tiniest airborne asset employed by U.S. ground forces. Wasp is an example of the cutting-edge solutions developed at AV.
