Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility will be to lead the Quality Assurance
    effort in establishing a world-class   manufacturing
    operation, quality assurance methods and processes at our Simi Valley location.  
  • Maintain an ISO 9001:2000 compliant quality assurance
    organization.  
  • Develop and lead Quality organization for all UAS products to
    include Small Unmanned systems and HALE UAV.
  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and planning on integrating multiple product teams to develop quality and test plans for new products, while ensuring that the new designs meet stated quality and reliability objectives.
  • Work specifically with engineering and purchasing groups to qualify new suppliers, outsource proven manufacturing processes, monitor and report supplier performance and perform supplier surveys and site audits.
  • Develop and integrate Quality Management processes into
    manufacturing
  • Develop and maintain training programs for ISO, SPC, Corrective and Preventative action, and process improvement
  • Drive the supplier quality program to minimize receiving
    inspection requirements.   
  • Responsible for creating budgets and metrics for multiple tasks.
     
  • Integrate CMMI and Quality processes to obtain a minimum of Level 3 certification.
  • Will be primary point of contact for customer Quality and
    configuration issues.



Required Qualifications & Background
  • A 4-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with specific coursework and/or seminars in quality assurance highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 8 years of Quality Assurance Management experience, in an aerospace/defense industry,
  • R&D and Production Manufacturing environment is required.
  • Experience in a DOD contract environment is required.  
  • Hands-on experience in electronics and composites manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with a computerized MRP system would be a definite asset.
  • Experience with software tools for managing quality data
    preferred.
  • Additional experience working with integrated cross-functional
    teams to define quality plans for new aircraft product introduction would be a plus.
  • Proven track record developing and implementing training programs.
  • Customer-focused, action-oriented, self-starter, creative and
    innovative, problem solver and possess strong work ethics and value systems.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor a small quality team.
  • Identify, publish and manage key performance measurements for quality assurance in manufacturing.
  • Should be familiar with commercial and government contract
    electronics building practices and components.
  • Understand mechanical drawings and inspection criteria.
  • Train manufacturing personnel to enable a sustained high-quality output.
  • Knowledge of FMEA methods and applications plus SPC and IPC
    workmanship standards.
  • Knowledge of document and configuration control method of
    manufacturing.
  • Good project Manager.
  • Team player and contributor.
  • Prefer experience in aircraft and aircraft subsystems including
    payload systems, and knowledge of unmanned aerial vehicles.
  • Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Government sell-off requirements and procedures preferred.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Independent decision-making.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.  
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
    written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Capable of light lifting.
  • Able to travel.
